About Telehealer

Telehealer is a telehealth platform for clinicians and patients. Its provider app, published by Telehealer, Inc., lets doctors run audio and video visits remotely and place prescription and lab orders, and is offered in English, Hindi and Spanish.

The challenge

Telehealer needed clinical-grade mobile apps on both sides of the consultation:

• No native apps for either patients or doctors.
• No HIPAA-compliant video for remote consultations.
• Manual vitals. Readings were collected by hand, with no connection to medical devices.
• No remote monitoring of patients between visits.

What Appmetry built

Appmetry built separate patient and doctor apps for iOS (Swift) and Android (Java and Kotlin):

• Secure consultations. HIPAA-compliant audio and video calls using OpenTok, with CallKit so calls behave like native phone calls, and end-to-end encryption.
• Connected devices. Bluetooth medical device integration to capture vitals directly.
• Health data. Apple Health and Google Fit connectivity for remote patient monitoring.
• Clinical paperwork. In-app patient consent and document management, plus Siri compatibility.

How we worked

The engagement ran for more than 18 months, with compliance requirements treated as part of each feature rather than an afterthought.

The outcome

Telehealer launched HIPAA-compliant iOS and Android apps for patients and doctors, live across its US clinician network. Their product team said the Bluetooth device integration and video quality exceeded their expectations.
