About Staance

Staance is a social platform based in California where people react to news by agreeing or disagreeing, and see how sentiment splits on each story. Campaigns can embed Staance widgets to collect opinions on their own sites.

The challenge

Staance started with an idea and no technology in place:

• No native apps for iOS or Android.
• No backend or web infrastructure.
• No way to capture or show sentiment on news stories.
• No developer SDK for embedding campaigns elsewhere.

What Appmetry built

Appmetry built the product end to end:

• Native apps for iOS (Swift) and Android (Java and Kotlin).
• A Node.js backend and React.js web client.
• Smooth, custom UI. Core Graphics components scrolling at 60fps for the agree and disagree interactions.
• Offline compose with seamless sync when the connection returns.
• Search, payments and campaigns. Algolia search, Firebase, Stripe payments and Facebook Campaign APIs, with embeddable campaign widgets and Slack-based admin controls.
• Automated testing with Selenium and Appium.
