About Probo

Probo is a Gurugram-based opinion trading platform founded in 2020, where users take Yes or No positions on questions about news, politics, cricket and crypto. Its investors described a community of more than 3.5 crore users. In August 2025 Probo stopped its real-money operations in India after the government moved to ban real-money online games; this case study covers Appmetry's engineering work before that change.

The challenge

Probo's iOS app had to handle fast-moving markets and real-time prices, and its codebase was not keeping up:

• Unstable modules. Parts of the app broke down as features were added.
• Crashes in regression testing. Releases were held back by crashes found late in the cycle.
• No scalable architecture. The structure made it hard to add features without side effects.
• Weak real-time performance. Live data, which is central to a trading product, was not performing well.

What Appmetry built

Appmetry rebuilt the Probo iOS application from scratch in Swift:

• A clean, testable architecture that isolated modules so a change in one area no longer broke another.
• Firebase real-time data to keep prices and positions current on screen.
• Cashfree payments integrated and running in production.
• Custom UI components for a dynamic, fast-changing interface, and the social features that make opinion trading engaging.

How we worked

The work ran as more than 12 months of continuous delivery alongside Probo's team, shipping improvements release by release rather than in one big switch-over.

The outcome

The rebuilt app passed regression across all modules without crashes and gave Probo a production-grade Swift foundation. Probo's team said the new architecture eliminated the breakdown issues they had been facing.

What this shows
